saal is the result of the challenge launched by Rede ARTÉRIA to Filipa Francisco to create a project in Figueira da Foz. After meetings and mappings previously held with the Municipality and various agents, the subject chosen for this project was the Salterns, following the interventions that have been carried out to preserve the memory and practice of salt production in this territory. After collecting testimonies from former and present workers of the salterns, the result of this immersive process integrates the community in a performance that carries those memories on a poetic journey to an unknown world.

saal documents the development of Filipa Francisco’s homonym performance. From the salterns to the rehearsals, the choreographer takes us to a territory where artistic creation is not so common. It follows professional and amateur artists as they share their experience creating this piece.
