The symbols of Gondomar were the inspiration. And its strength, truthfulness and energy, but also its burden, seriousness and discipline — you can feel the substance of tradition. The choreographies are based on everyday work gestures at the mines, factories and filigree making, in an endless gear interrupted only by the descriptions of the very last day of work. The unbuilt future emerges from gestures passed from the elders to the young. Rooted on the richness and diversity of Gondomar we ask ourselves how do we come together in this history and its stories? And what remains in the end?
By returning to who we really are, to our bodies and our relationship with nature we have a chance to return to rest and to celebrate ourselves.
Creative process
The goal was to collaborate, promoting individual and collective imagination and our reflections on different social realities and the creative act itself. Creativity was enhanced and confronted by bringing together professional and non-professional artists throughout “Operação PALCO’S - A Community Art Project”. Between May and November 2021, including 70 people from Gondomar aged 6 to 80, in a fundamental partnership between Mundo em Reboliço, the Municipality of Gondomar and 6 local artistic, cultural and social institutions.
